Understanding French Nails

Everyone loves French nails. One of the most popular nail design that is truly timeless.





Origin

Contrary to popular beliefs, French nails were not created in France. It was created by Jeff Pink in the late 1970s in San Jose California, when Hollywood needed a new and popular nail color that can match most outfits portrayed by actors and actresses. Pink was a celebrity manicurist at the time, and Barbra Streisand was the first actress to showcase the "French" nails on The Tonight Show by Johnny Carson. Cher picked up the trend and maximized its popularity around the world.

French". Deep French or "U French" is when the side "hook" drives higher to the cuticles to make the pink part of the nail base to look like a "U" or an almond, depending on the client’s desire. Another French design is also popular amongst most younger generations is the "V cut" or V-line French. The V-line speaks for itself as the French is drawn into and V instead.



How much should you pay

There are many other variations of French nails including different combinations of colors as well. Just keep in mind, depending on the design or which variations you might choose, the price tag isn’t always the same. Certain designs require skills and experience not everyone has mastered. Your nail technician may requires more money just because the time and effort it takes to perfect the French nails. One thing that everyone can agree on is we are not charging the 5 or 10 minute to draw the French. We are charging for the years it takes to acquire the necessary skills and experience to perfect the French design.
